A GIRL AND HER HORSES ON AUSTRALIA'S LONGEST TRAIL

It's true life's crises either break you or build resilience, so when Clemmie Wotherspoon hit a low point in her life, she decided it was time to tackle her despondency by undertaking a life long dream.

That dream being to travel Australia's Bicentennial National Trail, a total of 5,330 kilometres on horseback!

Clemmie grew up in the United States but as a child, her Australian father had given her a book describing the Bicentennial Trail. He also described Australia's vast and at times unforgiving, beautiful landscape, all of which sparked her imagination with a longing to see it up close for herself.

Inspired by the book From Alice to Ocean which depicts Robyn Davidson's solo camel journey through the outback, Clemmie began preparing for her adventure. Over a four year period she studied and worked with horse professionals, volunteered on adventure trail rides and completed over 10,000km of unsupported bicycle trips throughout the United States. All in preparation for travelling with little or no support, surviving with the most basic supplies and enduring extended periods of loneliness.

In February 2018, accompanied by three brumbies, Clemmie will leave from Healesville in Victoria to begin her solo horseback trek across Australia. The trek will take between 1-2 years and will be documented in photos, videos and audio recordings..
